APAC SOCIETY FOR CELLULAR AGRICULTURE
ESTABLISHED 2022; A COALITION OF TRAILBLAZING CMS VENTURES

OUR SOCIETY
APAC-SCA is a collective focused on establishing, implementing, and developing strategic frameworks to spur innovation in the Cellular Agriculture space.
Our members are founders of trailblazing ventures invested in advancing cultivated meat and seafood (CMS) to meet the soaring protein demand; for better health, security, and sustainability.
OUR FOCUS
Our focus is towards APAC and the cellular agriculture community here. We bring connectivity to the region and aim to liaise information to various of stakeholders in the sector. We're always seeking to expand our network, build partnerships, and partake in various of public events – please reach out for more information.
WHAT IS CELLULAR AGRICULTURE?
Unlike conventional agriculture, cellular agriculture removes the need for animal waste and slaughter, as cells are grown externally in facilities resembling that of brewing or fermentation. Similar to traditional meat and seafood products, cultivated cells have the same genetic make-up.

Stem Cell Isolation
Growth

Over the past decade, cultivated food, is undertaking a transition from R&D to global commercialisation.
Industry has the potential to deliver provide an alternative to the cuisine we know today.
Our members are pioneering the cultivated meat and seafood sector by producing a range of products including beef, poultry, pork, and seafood. Member companies are also expanding the cellular agriculture sector by developing systems and strategies for efficient bio-production and propagation of cells. Food Safety & Health
Sustainability
Compared to conventional beef, meat cultivated from cells could result in 92% less global warming, 93% less air pollution and could use up to 95% less land and 78% less water.

Nature & Ethics
Cultivated meat & seafood is a reliable source of nutrition, with lower risks of pathogens, antibiotics resistance & contaminants.
A recovery of our ecosystems with no industrial animal slaughter – cultivated meat & seafood can mitigate the side effects of conventional agriculture.

Food Security
Countries that are early adopters of cultivated meats & seafood could mitigate against global supply shocks & disruptions and meet the growing protein demand.

REGULATION & POLICY
ASIA PACIFIC
Increasing number of policymakers globally have signalled their support and commitment for the cultivated meat and seafood industry to meet their national policy goals of economic growth, mitigation of the climate crisis, and as a food security asset. In 2020, Singapore was the first national regulatory body in the world to approve the commercial sale of a cultivated meat product.
