OUR INDUSTRY AT A GLANCE

WHAT IS CELLULAR AGRICULTURE?

Unlike conventional agriculture, cellular agriculture removes the need for animal waste and slaughter, as cells are grown externally in facilities resembling that of brewing or fermentation. Similar to traditional meat and seafood products, cultivated cells have the same genetic make-up.

Nature and Ethics

Less pollution, no animal waste / slaughter, and a recovery of ecosystems  - cultivated meat and seafoods mitigate the side-effects of conventional agriculture.

REGULATIONS AND POLICY

Landscape

Regulations and policies are still in the nascent phase across APAC. However, strides are being made and Singapore is the first country globally to approve the sale of a cultivated meat product. Still much more work is needed to be undertaken in the region to foster a regulatory landscape that is efficient, safe, and harmonized.

Singapore is the first country in the world to give regulatory approval to a cultivated meat product (Dec 2020). Sets the tone for the industry and framework design for APAC
