APAC-SCA Welcomes Singapore's Approval of Aleph Farms' Cultivated Beef, Marking Another Major Milestone for the Global Cellular Agriculture Industry

Singapore, 4 August 2026 – The APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture (APAC-SCA) welcomes today's announcement that the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has approved Aleph Farms' cultivated beef for sale in Singapore, representing another significant milestone in the advancement of cellular agriculture both regionally and globally. 

The approval makes Singapore the second market globally to authorize Aleph Farms' cultivated beef and further reinforces Singapore's position as one of the world's leading regulatory jurisdictions for novel foods and cultivated meat.

"This approval represents much more than a commercial milestone for one company—it is another important validation of the scientific rigor, regulatory maturity, and growing confidence in cultivated meat as an emerging food technology," said Peter Yu, Program Director of APAC-SCA. "As more products successfully navigate robust food safety assessments, regulators, investors, food companies, and consumers gain greater confidence that cultivated meat is transitioning from research and development into commercial reality."

Singapore became the first country in the world to approve cultivated meat in 2020 and has since established one of the most comprehensive science-based regulatory frameworks for novel foods. Today's announcement further demonstrates how transparent, evidence-based regulatory pathways can support innovation while maintaining the highest standards of food safety.

The approval also highlights the growing importance of Asia-Pacific in the future of cellular agriculture. With increasing pressures on food security, supply chain resilience, and sustainable protein production, the region continues to emerge as a global hub for cultivated meat research, manufacturing, commercialization, and regulatory leadership.
