SINGAPORE — The Asia-Pacific Society for Cellular Agriculture (APAC-SCA) is honoured to support two of the landmark projects awarded under SFA’s recent $42 million funding drive for future foods and novel food safety innovations. Among these, the “NextGen toxicokinetic and safety platform for the evaluation of small-molecule additives in cultivated meat” has been awarded to a consortium including NUS, A*STAR, and APAC-SCA. Meanwhile, APAC-SCA is also an advisory partner in the “Modular Liver-Gut Platform for Advanced Risk Detection (Li-GuARD)” Organ-on-Chip initiative for food safety assessment in cell-based and fermentation-derived foods.
As the cultivated meat and alternative-protein sector scales, robust, non-animal safety assessment frameworks are essential to ensuring consumer confidence. Through these roles, APAC-SCA will contribute expertise in cellular agriculture, regulatory science, and safety standards — helping to set rigorous, transparent, and regionally relevant food-safety benchmarks. We are excited to see how these initiatives will accelerate safe, sustainable production of cell-based foods in Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific food ecosystem.
