12 June 2024: APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) is finally launched!
The earlier half of 2024 was exciting for the industry - APAC-SCA member company Aleph Farms received approval in its home country, and the South Korean regulatory body MFDS established its framework to govern cultivated meat & seafood.
As the industry progressed, APAC-SCA saw the need to develop a student chapter dedicated to increasing the awareness and preference for cultivated meat and seafood among the next generation of consumers. The partnership with Temasek Polytechnic naturally occurred with its industry-centric initiatives like the Future Foods Domain and bright students at the School of Applied Sciences.
The APAC-SCA (Student Chapter) is thus formed as Singapore's first student society dedicated to fostering a community of students across Asia Pacific who share the view of shaping the future of food through cellular agriculture. Starting in Singapore, the student society will raise awareness and inculcate a preference for cultivated food products among the next generation of consumers.
The student society hopes to grow a dynamic ecosystem of students, tech enablers, industry players, and enthusiasts committed to advancing cellular agriculture through collaboration, education and innovation. This will support our vision to create an inclusive network that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of cellular agriculture and bridges the gap between bright, young talents and the promising industry.
